About

I like love all things edible.

I don't just love to cook.  I love food.  I love anything that has to do with food.  And most importantly, I love eating food.

Growing up, my sister and I practically lived in the kitchen.  It's where everything important happened.  Breakfast.  Lunch.  Dinner.  Homework.  Family.  Conversations.  Fights.  Getting over fights.  Good news.  Bad news.  Everything.  As we got older and our friends started dropping by on a regular basis, sometimes unannounced, the kitchen is where they ended up.  Sometimes I'm sure it was moms way of keeping track of all of us.  I had friends who liked to eat well, and often.  No matter what time of day or night, there was usually something homemade...and if there wasn't, she would make something for us.  No one asked.  No one had to.  It was just what my family did.  It's what my family does.  Other times I'm sure it was helpful for purging all of those leftovers.  Either way, food definitely played a huge part with my family and friends, whether they know it or not - I'm sure most of them do.

Sometimes I find it hard to believe that not everyone is like that.  Is it not common to be planning out lunch while eating breakfast, or discussing what to do about dinner before lunch is even finished?  How could that be?  That's crazy!

I grew up in a North Jersey kitchen, spent a handful of years in a Maine kitchen, dabbled in a Vermont kitchen for a few months, whipped up delicious concoctions using an apartment sized stove in a Florida kitchen, and currently am making a mess tasty creations in a Oklahoma kitchen.  I can guarantee there will be other locations in the future, but who knows when and where!

Well, I've babbled on long enough and I guess I don't really have to tell you that I enjoy cooking.  If I didn't, this blog wouldn't exist.  And because you are here, you must either like me, like food, or if I'm lucky, both.  Whatever your reason, I hope you stick around, it can only get better from here.

If you have questions, suggestions, requests, love letters, hate mail, or need someone to cook for you, don't hesitate to contact me at kacey@kaceyskitchen.com or here.

Chow On!

  2. Hi Kasey, great blog. I cooked your polenta recipe just the other day and added a piece of fish. It was delicious. Thanks for all the blogging. Take a look at my new cookery blog from the other side of the pond in London...

  3. Hi Kacey, I heard about your blog from your mother-in-law when she and her husband came to donate blood today. With today being the end of Thanksgiving weekend, I found it the perfect opportunity to find out what most of my donors had for dessert and when I mentioned Southernplate.com and and my interest in learning about southern food as well as writing my own blog. I scribbled down the name of yours down and stopped by to visit. Browsed a little; If it were me, I'd definitely return to the new hot dog place, sample another hotdog and let them know about the idea for the frequent visitor card. Grace
